Ting Tings - We Walk - Glasto

Epic.

Hot Chip - Boy From School - Glasto

To be honest, listening and watching these videos is enjoyable. I usually put them in the background. When the lyrics flowed out for Boy From School I just about died, might we all share these pleasures?

Elbow - One Day Like This - Glasto

Delicate instrumentals and fantastic vocals. The best part is hearing and seeing the crowd's excitement and participation. Glasto or Bust! Amy, I am looking at you!

Cheers for the skip side of the pond.

Dizzee Rascal and Calvin Harris - Glasto

Stellar performance by a pair of very talented MC's.

Glastonbury's Glad!

Proving to be an immensely important leader in new music, it is no suprise at all that this year's Glastonbury left its mark - subtle appearance, scrumptious performances.

I put it down at the beginning, but sitting here and listening to the live recordings is extremely satisfying, great performanceship throughout the entire festival.

Bassheavy Electro, very Switch, very good. Hope you enjoy the show tonight Colin!

FMF - The Industrial Spies

My favourite live digi-hybrid act are known to rock the Techno hard. Lately, and following many other artists, the boys have adapted nu-era Electro sounds, which Londoner's might hear soon, shortly. Many of their performances and recordings are combination midi-controlled Ableton Live, custom modulation and samples, and sample other artists' tracks; a rolling movement of music in the time it is created, beefed up by the big guns.

The Industrial Spies is a cavalier performance and recording team. They diligently practice hybrid layering of musical components, one putting his sounds in time with the other. Synchronisation in real time, with real input. The rhythm of their sets is moody, much like the human life. Snare, snap, glip-bop, hoover, and so on. Maybe not Hardhouse hoover, but maybe also.

Their newest handmade creation comes in preparation for this Summer's electronic festivals and is loaded with the intricate sounds expected.

These guys are local, based in, and around the Greater Toronto Area. Seen performing at outdoor FTekno events, sparkling clubs, dives and grubs, they always hit the show far into the distance. Behind their toys, and as musicians, they are truly original and free on vibe, dedicated to their sound and scene. One Love Brothers!

Food Dye the Xyience Lie

Designing furniture for comfort, style and merit takes years of practice. It would be interesting for me to be a industrial designer. I have ideas, lots of them, and when put forth many of my ideas could make it to product launch. For instance: a magazine rack and table combo, made out of acrylic, and available in several colours and transparencies.

It would look something similar to what is viewed below, but in vacuum molded 3/4" acrylic.

Some stupid ideas, yelled out in the back of the backseat of a car can and do make it to the marketplace. Dreams can become true. Now help me hunt the F'r who stole my idea!

Props to Jess and Robynn for experiencing that with me, now you know.

Pictures

Sneaky Sound System released their Pictures EP in 2006-2007. Groovy rock with beautiful female vocals, adding to the umph of releases from the big, big island; big catchy rifts, big soothing vocals, and a bright outlook from the Sunny land of Australia.

One of the more sought after acts on a global stage, SSS will be appearing this weekend at Galstonbury 2008.

Here is their fantastic video for Pictures.

Shake-Shake-Shake

Wanna be my fwiend?

As if..

"Creating a life that reflects your values and satisfies your soul is a rare achievement. In a culture that relentlessly promotes avarice and excess as the good life, a person happy doing his own work is usually considered an eccentric, if not a subversive. Ambition is only understood if it's to rise to the top of some imaginary ladder of success. Someone who takes an undemanding job because it affords him the time to pursue other interests and activities is considered a flake. A person who abandons a career in order to stay home and raise children is considered not to be living up to his potential-AS IF a job title and and salary are the sole measure of human worth."

Filthy House Finalists

Fan videos always rock harder. True, or pseudo-esque art student films explore boundaries most professional filmographers and photographers wouldnt venture. Many of these often low budget films are set each year, to the season's hottest tunes. They are fan videos after all. Wouldn't see me taming llamas for a Chad Kroeger video.

Thunderheist has issued a calling contest, open video submission for their newest Filthy House jack tack, Jerk It. Now down to THREE finalists, you can CLICK HERE to view and vote for your most liked.

New Chemical Brothers!

Following their fifth consecutive number 1 album last year, the Grammy award winning ‘We Are The Night’, The Chemical Brothers return with ‘Brotherhood’ a best of collection with a kick and a twist, set for release on 1st September 2008.

The Chemical Brothers have established themselves as true pioneers of electronic music and have become one of the most popular dance acts of all time. Now seems the perfect time to take stock of their seminal output with the double disc celebration that is Brotherhood.

Brotherhood comprises of 2 discs, the first is a collection of 13 undeniable benchmark Singles from the band's immense back catalogue and new track ‘Keep My Composure’ which features the shimmering flow of Baltimore’s Spank Rock.

The 2nd will feature exclusively Electronic Battle Weapons 1-10. Since 1996 Electronic Battle Weapons have acted as the laboratories for The Chems devious musical experiments and laid the rhythmic and melodic foundations for numerous tracks as well as providing some of the duos most formidable mixes. Until now Electronic Battle Weapons 1-9 have only been available on various limited formats and this is the first time they have been widely available.

Brotherhood will be preceded by the digital download single Midnight Madness on 4th August 2008. Derived and developed from Electronic Battle Weapons 10, Midnight Madness is The Chemical Brothers at their most infectious, euphoric, report to the dancefloor best.

M-Audio - XSessionPro Midi Controller

Recently I became a repetitive buyer of legally obtained music. iTunes didn't fare as well as I'd hoped and any site that needs external players is just a time waster, so we've settled with Beatport.com. If you spend any time inside a club or mature young demographic you have seen, or heard (pun def. intended, rewrote this sentence biaaatch) about Beatport. The site offers a varried and deep selection of current and cutting edge dance and electronic sounds. Cutting edge being the key - many local-international talent pools are emerging as top players in legally obtained dance music. But digital options differ widely; their quality, wave form, and availability are determining factors in choosing to purchase music and choosing to download less standardised trash.

The m-audio X-SessionPro midi controller allows DJ options in laptop portability. It is light weight and has a variety of tittilating knobules and faders. Shoooop Shoooop!

By syncronising hand-moven actions to an .MP3 software package, such as Traktor DJ Studio or Ableton Live, it allows a person to be a DJ without highly expensive equiptment. Download samples, loops, effects, any sonic tool, and you're already climbing the charts!

Reverse Graffiti - Part 2

I remembered this video from a while back, it has made the rounds but adds variety to the last post.

"Once you do this, you make people confront whether or not they like people cleaning walls or if they really have a problem with personal expression." -Paul "Moose" Curtis

Moose - Reverse Graffiti

British street artist Moose subtracts from worn streetscapes to create spectacular fleeting urban masterpieces. The application of stencils over street grime allows the crud to be partially washed away with a little elbow grease and a hose, leaving behind images of stark contrast.

My interest in video games is minimal. Battlefield: Heroes looks to change that. User-friendly, skill level equality, and a cartoon design are all reasons I would play. None of that BOOM: HEADSHOT! business. Why don't you join the army if you can shoot 152/75?

Mike Conradi - Tone Def

Fronting new electro sounds Toronto, Canada's own Mike Conradi precisely blends a comforting mix. Contending top honours Mike benefits from the prime Canadian House industry. Techy, minimalistic soundscapes roll with funky flat beats. A definate want for the music-pod headliner.

Dub heavy, electro clash bass. Wobble tune, kick step. Just released on Friday 13th of June - fresh-picked mint. Thumbs up to the No Love Lost crew, keep bringing like you do.

While not a complete fan of Dub Step, I do enjoy the fresh notes and basslines. Its blend with House and Breaks takes both worked genres to another dimenion, and I know it makes me dance heavy on the floor. Can't wait to kick it!

Stop the Violence

KRS One speaks on MC's selling out. KRS is a heavy-hitting lyracist, and although I have not heard as much diversity and range from him as some readers, I understand and connect with the amount I have been shown or have listened to. An MC, who's still around, and one of Hip Hop's finest,

Much respect.
I had primarily listened to KRS One from my brother's mixtapes and CD's up until college. So about 5-6 years ago, and the first track I heard KRS over top of Goldie UK drumm and bass styles. One of those artists who is multi genre, really and truly MC's from the heart, the soul.

Old school, classic timing of his ryhmes, Stop the Violence was established at the peak of the 80's, and a bad time in violence in the Hip Hop community. Wikipedia will allow you to learn more.

The original, funky 80's Hip Hop.
KRS One - Stop the Violence

The remastered, and cameo'd 2008 vesion is far away in comparison to the 80's version, in my opinion. Not that the message is any different, but early Hip Hop is gold compared to today's injection-molded plastic music. What really turned me off it was Chamillionaire's /sp?? bad verbal skills, and impressive desire to continue.

Da Designer's Dream

What do other designers think of a usb colour-swatch reader? Places like Home Repot and Rona have them for their latex paints, but the technology could be used in the design industry. Instant colour swatches, web-ready Hexi-Code, and database-driven colour profiles would be all the rage. Or should I say radiance?

Blogs Got Crooks to Handcuff

Thief-kid is back. I called him out earlier as he walked up to the counter, myself fully aware of what was bulging out of his pocket. 'Don't you already have one of these in your pocket?' Of course I heard their excuse, rang them through, and then let them walk around the store depositing their stash, before leaving without the stolen goods. He just came in to buy another TOXIC WASTE sour oil drum.

I am going to buy a pair of $1 handcuffs and place them on the counter next time a thief-kid tries to pull anything.

September

Indian Summer, September, the commencement of an elaborate closing of the growth season. The progressive, natural ebb of Earth encourages near-fantastical processes, including humanity. September can feel as though it were the height of the year, the culmination of all things good. The far off signal of the ski season approaching :P

Friday Fuck Music

FFM's are going to be 3 or more similar tracks from now on.

Starting today's session,

Laidback Luke remixes Dragonette's Competition. Heavy Summer sounds to keep you moving.

To note, Dragonette is part Toronto, part London, UK hybrid. At the 2008 Juno Awards they received a nomination for 'Best New Band.' We will move into them more upon arrival of my new terminal. They sent the printer, so only one more box to receive.

In the meantime I am enjoying all the crux bass I can. Bryan Cox you are my man as of late. Heavy hitting floor stomping basslines. Nice tweaks too.

And this gem of a mix is loaded with new Electro sounds,

Tracks featured in this clip:
02. Noir - Super Skunk (Ed Kane Pulling A Whitey Mix)
03. Hijack - Shimmy
04. Santiago and Bushido - Got That
05. Heavyfeet - Sick Like That (Santiago and Bushido Remix)
06. Butter Party - Wriggle (Zodiac Cartel's Twisted as Hell Mix)

The above mix put me through to FREE MIXES GALORE!

LCD Soundsystem

LCD Soundsystem have kicked it high-gear for the last few years. The laptop is burning my bare chest, after sweating 2Lbs into my shirt I'm not wearing one for a while. Ugh., Can't wait for my new laptop to arrive, expect a party!

Gradual tune, builds up to an epic roll and jam and consistent vocals the entire track. The guy singing is on tune too, not the annoying $50 actors that get sync'd over once they leave the set. 'Its my money, and I need it now!!'

No words, just enjoy. Gosh, I am tired of talking. People talk too much, but i do always have an ear for friends,

All my Friends

Megs, I want to change the world..

The song has eroded the concrete walls structured amidst the morning's dew and sunshine's smiling orange hair.

Where do I start Where do i begin - Chemical Brothers

Funkerman & Raf - We Rule The Night (Sidney Samson Remix)

Little sha-cha house action here, sneaking in the phat basslines throughout the track, and Summer rythems. Adding this for y'all to enjoy.

I say FUCK.

Does it Offend you, Yeah? kick ass. Electro rock to the finest degree, plus the humidity! Holy heck did today feel like Hell! Going to be a scortcher tomorrow, so here's a track that's so hot it will leave feeling cool in tomorrow's heat.

Let's Make Out

AND a music video that exemplifies the track!
