En Mass choreographedflash dance flash mob in two very public map points (SergerlsTorg public square, and Stockholm Central Station) in Stockholm, Sweden. The dancers wanted to commemorate Michael Jackson's sudden death and they pulled the entire performance off in a respectable form using social networking megalithFacebook.
It has been a year at least and Little Boots, along with the top of the year, have played Glastonbury. I am not amazed at the happening, rather more intrigued with the development of grand-central musicians.
Apparently many of us online enjoy our music so much that we can get home-grown talent onto world-class stages.

The energy lies within the .mp3, as each track is carefully selected to make the crowd groove and move, shake, battle, and make up in a sexy twist of proper beats.
Anyone living in Canada and who is involved in the progression of our Dance and Underground scenes must know DeKoze. For he has held onto music like no other. And his motives are to make the crowd break down their walls and let the bass and music cling to their souls.
A proper and appreciated thanks to those DJs who have allowed us to post their music. And a fine day it will be with an intimate and seductive progressive bass-rolling mix as prime back-sound.

Batty Bass Records was set to release last year, but after some troubles with distributors and a savvy tour schedule including Asia, Australia and many European festivals, it has taken until the start of this year to put out the glorious tunes on BBR. On the 15th of June this year LTJ Bukem released his FabricLive mix. Certainly the pinacle achievement for many of the current underground spectrum. WE ARE THROWING BACK nearly a year to the height of Summer 2008.
- Music had been going in a whole new direction. House music regained a soul in many ways and technologies assisted in the mass production of digital creativity that has helped shape samples and elements popular in current House, Techno, Jungle/Drum and Bass, and more so - general contemporary Electronica.
Today, the music is in all the clubs and blasted through commercial channels. Much of it is pop-gimmick BULLSHIT music. But for a few champions and pioneers success has been elemental in growing digital dance music.
The progression Toronto DJ Mike Conradi(Search top-left for a whole slew of mixes) makes with each of his recorded sessions is a prime quality for a DJ, seemingly effortless, and quite unique to have.
And his control of effects and sound levels just intrigues my mind. Let it up people, Conradi is good. Real good.

A collective of all female sound-wizards called Feline Crew brought their goods and tunes and MCs to DNBTV. So many great downloads have been posted on RRR, but its the constant change and progression of DNBTV and its guests that makes me post these sets.
As someone who truly enjoys the dimensions electronic music has taken to recover from the depths of Hardstyle and Happy Hardcore (much respect to each on a good night by-the-way..), it is great to hear organic, soul-moving, quality sounds. Plus - the new vibe of collaborating, for me, is a throwback to the community of party-kids and ravers alike. Much respect.
And big-up respect to MC Chickaboo of the Batty Bass crew too, for her abilities behind the bass of 4/4 or the broken-step beats. It is still my intentions to show my support in the crowd at one of Batty Bass' events. Here's hoping!

A staple on KISS FM, DJ Hype's latest show has plenty of bangers and a selection of Drum and Bass Step. Deep dub grooves topped with the tings of DnB. Quite a stylized take on Dub Step and Drum and Bass that isn't to much to handle.

Mike Conradi is once again liberating the soundsystem. Recorded earlier today in one session, this latest selection of his chugs in energy from start to finish. The progression through the tracks is completely satisfying with purposely mastered EQs and symbiotic mixing that is keeping up with his trademark quality of defined sound. Mike evolved his music and skills in the underground arenas and popular nightclubs of Southern Ontario. He is a much welcomed name to the nights we enjoy thoroughly but may or may not remember. Today I awoke rather late to a mixture of slush pellets and rain. This slush-rain broke way to clear skies and warm sun. A brief moment of the transition season called Spring that many Calgarians cannot seem to recognize and the many migrants seem to have forgotten.
Which broke into the hail that the South of Calgary had been reporting earlier today. Thanks to Thanks a Soldier.net, a local support-man for Canadian and International troops - we have obtained video of the hail.
What is this Calgary? Does it really snow every month of the year? Or now, these conglomerate precipitations.. slush-rain, snow showers, 4" snowflakes and 75Kmph winds.. but then random, nauseating transitions into 20+ degree weather and clear skies.
To stimulate the construction industry we might consider building a dome over the city. Or an indoor amusement park. So I'm not afraid to leave my house in case I end up dragging home 100lbs of groceries in hail.
If possible, and it is: live music, and ideally our music is meant for the public. In this display of showmanship and lyricism and performance, DubFX and a sax player I'd love to link to, but cannot at this time, Woodnote, perform a talented and tuned supplement to our ears.

Much anticipation between my roommate and myself for this show. Months in advance I clipped the 4x6 black-and-white ad out of the paper and posted it on the refrigerator (which I later traded up for a full poster-flier I clipped from an event-post in my 'hood). So the date and event were set, but the experience had just begun.
Fans of the Acid-Breaks and the Big Beat style of their older material, it was a shocking pleasure to hear the new album Divided by Night. Produced exceptionally, the album features a defining approach to modern Electronica. Experimentation, distortion, but a solid grasp in collecting the perfect songs and elements to make up the album.
Artists and elites including Metric's Emily Haines, American Folk artist Meiko, and Peter Hook of New Order appear on the album. The collaborations are poignant to the expressive mood the album takes. Unlike the previous album Vegas, but similar in the progressive nature of the tunes, the atmosphere created by the soft-tone of many of the tracks was a matured approach from within the duo's skills. And this is what shocked me - how could we dance to down-tempo, soft-vocal productions?

The Whiskey Nightclub was a perfect performing venue for the American pair. The stage was central in the club and took the band's equipment nicely. Large screens for video and a fantastic light rack brought the audience in. The layout of the club itself was essential to my enjoyment - no queue's at the many bars, room to walk around, but just packed enough to get the full-on effect of a mid-week party. The place was packed, the floor filled, and the speaker cabinets more than capable. In essence - as perfect a set-up as could be had.
Since this is not a review of the album, which is mighty great and continues to evolve an appreciation inside me, I will post the pictures of the night:

What's with the hiatus? This man had been throwing up some tempting podcasts under the Canadian Drum and Bass Podcast series until, of course, his Mac bit the binary. Saturday's have been heaven-on-Earth most recent. Beautiful days, warm sun, blue sky, and stereo crank'd tunes. David Guetta, as big as he is in terms of high-quality production, isn't as well received as he should be. Nevertheless, his good attitude towards party, good-time, and energetic, climbing-the-wall, drop-the-bass bad-ass music make's him a DJ unlike any other.
The mix does not have a track-list. Before, I wouldn't post a mix unless it had a full track-list. But then there are plenty of known tunes that Guetta mixes perfectly with. Simple, often fast mixes between records , but he has a great ear for attributing two points of two songs into one seamless mix. Download the mix and blast it. Electro, House, MNML, + + +. At his first LoveParade, he drops old classics and currect catches. Respectable and enjoyable.

On the campaign trail for his brand new album, Tales Of A Kleptomaniac, respected French techno producer, DJ and label kingpin Laurent Garnier has spoken about his dislike for the brash and boisterous style of his countrymen at bleeding edge label Ed Banger.
In an interview with Resident Advisor Garnier was in no mood to bite his tongue, clearly unimpressed with the over-the-top attitude of Busy P and his posse. “There’s one thing that really has changed in the music scene and that’s the way we exist,” said Garnier, when asked for his thoughts on the current scene. “15 years ago, we fought for our music. We didn’t care about having our pictures taken, or being in magazines. Some people did, but it was not the done thing – it was all about being faceless, letting the music do the talking. That was one of the great things about techno music. Now it’s all about what I look like, who I am, how I dress, how rock and roll I am and how stupid I can be.”
As the founding father of the seminal – but now-defunct – record label F-Communications, Garnier helped to launch the career of Mr Oizo, who ironically is now at home amongst the Ed Banger stable of artists. “A lot of the new guys now, we wouldn’t have signed them to F-Communications, because it’s not our thing,” he continued. “Musically it doesn’t excite us at all. Some of them I like – I’m not saying it’s all crap – but a lot of it just doesn’t talk to me. I feel a lot of it is marketing more than anything else. This is why I feel dubstep is more exciting, because I feel those guys are making it for the right reasons.”
Heading into the Canadian May Long-Weekend with a smile and my head shook up from bass and synth-pop. For those non-Canadians, the Victoria Day weekend in May is a call-back to our British monarch heritage. It is really pointless that we still celebrate our late head-of-state Victoria, The Queen of England's birthday, but it is the unofficial kick-off to the Summer season in Canada. Usually camping, beer, beaches, bon-fires, fireworks, road-trips, and similar debauchery is in store. Or working for double your wage on the holiday Monday as I will be doing.
But the iPod is loaded up and plenty has been downloaded. I now must sort and delete mediocre from shit I'll actually listen to. Spor, Apex, Alphabeat, Bat for Lashes, Sloan, the Vandals, Lagwagon, DJ Cure, and some other fine mixes already synced that never leave my iPod.

Coming out of November of 2008, this heavy hitter is a must have for DnB enthusiasts. Amazing basslines and mixing that have been enjoying my headphones most recently. Not much written out there about this quartet of DJs. Aside from this Wikipedia page and an article on GrooveRadio, but let their beats speak for themselves. The group has been playing since 1998 and are a combination at times and solo projects more often. I hope to post more Drum and Bass more often. So keep tuned!

Playing for Change connects the distance between cultures with a virtual studio recording street musicians from all over the world. Each artist adds their personal touch with the recordings of the other artists playing in the headphones. Gradually and with plenty of travel, the Playing for Change studio captures soulful renditions of classic tunes. But the artists never meet. Sonic contradiction and fabulous self fix-up tunes. VV Brown is a keeper in my collection and her latest track Shark in the Water flexes her inspired voice and makes an incredible tune. The only problem I have is that you're weather was too nice, take me to England!
Though in the coming months a trip is in order, the video and the track is a hitter on notes and emotions. Something many can get behind and follow. I have been impressed with all her releases and Shark in the Water just shows me her talent, her range, and her dealings. It's one thing to get a track that plays well, but it is another completely to know the story.
The transition of island rock ballad to quick finish lets me replay and replay VV's new track. Emotive, exciting, chill, thrill. . it's the tune for the time.
