FMF - Claude Von Stroke - Essential Mix
Fuck Music Friday is at back again. This time stepping on your toes with prime material. Claude Von Stroke, the Bay's Dirty Bird label headman, and techno-funky bass man, provides BBC Radio 1 with two hours of the finest tech-funk. Rocked this at work and the customers were lovin' it. I was afraid they would catch me dancing with the mop. Wet floors are great for dancing the electric slide and some light step work, but when pulling the pony you best be holding onto the mop! LIABILITY!
In all honesty: my job rocks. Laid back, I maintain my task schedule and I keep a good reputation about the finest convenience store in town. But don't mention that the camera over my head only serves one purpose, creep. Or that you were glad there was a white boy behind the counter and not a ________, like them other stores. Test your luck cowboy, you're in town just once this week.
I need a signature phrase to say to my customers

Keeping the pace and groove in as busy a place as a customer-served convenience store in prime location is random and stressful work. Bring music, hi-jack the stereo and the place becomes loose and tolerable. That is the essence of Fuck Music Fridays. Fuck it, we're listening to music while we do it. Living in public settings with a custom soundscape.
EDIT:
Download this set and highlight it on your soundsystems,

Stina Persson
a New Spin on Watercolour.
Styling a very editorial juxtoposition to often soft, layered, and gradual painting style, Stina Perrson's strokes enheighten her platform, her colours popping and inspiring, her new approach fueling pre-current design.
The watercolour method of painting requires great strength of workmanship in patience and control. There are often periods of drying time between colours. The quite thin viscosity of the paint requires due technique from the artist - to load the brush, thin the paint, application to platform, etc.
Her work spans a lengthy hi-level client pool: Dior, Coca-Cola, DKNY, Harper's, Elle UK - to name a few. I found her between the covers of MixMag and never found the time to go indepth until now. Worth the wait, and the clicks through her portfolio.

Yo Gabba! Yeah!
Bassbin Twins refresh Yo! Gabba Gabba, some American children's television show. Or late acid flashbacks of the 80's, not sure. Eitherway,

Now I am Just Mad
Set up my whole day to finally relax after six days of work, only to have my day suddenly shifted to boredom. So I`m going to say one last fucking time that Kap Bambino is the best French Thrash duo there is. Missed them when they came to Toronto, Montreal et al. But watch this compiled segment, replacing that ridiculous POS I posted yesterday. My bad.

Running the Walls
No doubt that the 2008 Olympic Games in China had the largest, most perfected, and most cut-to-the-chase opening ceremonies - even beating my previous vote for Sydney 2000. Drums are impressive, especially 2008 syncronized, ancient Chinese drums. I still like fireworks, and the helicopter needed to see them all, and.. Van Koeverden's strength in carrying the flag.. that dude has stamina.
And I managed to chop the Mary Ann Hobbs set to just Birdy Nam Nam's appearance.
clickthrough to listen to it.
Our Internet has been intermitent as of late, so spararing updates until Tuesday.

Cheerleaders Gon' Wild!

Yeah, they could have got the wicked idea to do Debbie Does Dallas. Good thing these girls had some smarts.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) _
How many cheerleaders can cram into an elevator? Apparently not 26. A group of teenage girls attending a cheerleading camp on the University of Texas got stuck and had to be rescued after trying to squeeze into an elevator at a residence hall Tuesday night.
One girl fainted and was treated at a hospital and released. Two others were treated at the scene.
The elevator doors refused to open after the pack of 14- to 17-year-olds descended from the fourth to the first floor, police said. Responding to a few panicked cell phone calls from the group, police and firefighters summoned an elevator repairman, who spent about 25 minutes extricating them.
Campus officials weren't amused.
"It's dangerous, actually," said a school police spokeswoman, Rhonda Weldon. "They're lucky that that's all that happened."
Yeah, they could have got the wicked idea to do Debbie Does Dallas. Good thing these girls had some smarts.
DJ Aleksadra Opening for Steve Porter
Back again with another substantial mix! Live from her opening performance for Steve Porter. That's right! Our girl Alexsadra is moving in on the global sound.

Taken from her Eye Weekly Feature on her unique sound,
Enjoy this breezy, deeply soulful Tech House mix; the sound expanding from her earlier bigroom and electro house sounds. Bigroom never died, it just progressed into something fantastic.

Taken from her Eye Weekly Feature on her unique sound,
“It depends on the venue, city and time slot,” says Aleksandra. “My range includes deep house, fun, vocal house, electro and tech house. I am best known for my dirty electro house style, but am expanding more into tech house. “

Essentially..
my head is still rattled by the thumping bass, the non-stop, no-where-bound conversations, and intense sun exposure with rainy, cold nights. But it was one good festival. Move the rock stage closer, or maybe next year I will bring a bike. However, I did hit up the Jungle tent for a few hours each day and gave it my all. Learning to stall and front kick, and all that good steppin' maneouver.
Until the footaage is transfered we won't know what is on the tapes. The camera was put away for a good portion during the rain, and I spent Sunday night in the tent recovering from the day time's sunshine. However, the drive up was beautiful, the smell of onions not - the stages were immaculate like anyDestiny festival, and I expect CEMF to grow bigger by next year.
In any case it is a good, hard festival. Lots to improve on, including water booths throughout the site, more firewood, and less of a walk to the stages. Even camping next to the gates both years this is the number one problem - distance. Be sure to pack everything you need when heading to the stages. While vendor prices are good and the layout is perfect, the intense sun is easy to burn one's body quick. So plan on being out with the essentials: sunscreen, shades, hats, blankets, and cash.
Thus, yes I will be returning. Number one party and lots of great people. But finally investing in a portable stage tent or party trailer is the call. USS rocked the airwaves and it is sad to have missed them. Benny Page was immaculate. That whole Jungle tent had me moving. I hope they appreciate the torn up grassroots, new growth.
Taken away from the experience: Canadian independant music is performing on a world class stage. Now to invite some Aussies, Brits, Swedish and French producers. Just my take,
Can't say Peace just yet, we will return to the review,

FMF - The Industrial Spies - NEW SET
We were in a dire need of some rocking bass music today. Rock and other music avenues hold their own right, but nothing pumps like electro. The Industrial Spies will be appearing at FUEL and plan to bring their new sound down to town.
What's with batty excitement and lazical rhyming?
Surely non-stop rocking, a drop from labelmate, and London, Ontario producer Klonez layed with Soulwax, Simian, Twoker, Moby+ a packed and ready set for any party. Let's just hope it doesn't rain at the beach this weekend!

FMF - CUTTING EDGE EDITION
Going away this weekened, and after the troubling incident at work yesterday - I need it. We're brining the video camera and are going to be recording footage and interview, when possible. Expect any coverage to be shown by late next week once I learn how to download 8mil to laptop.
Noise my ears will fancy:
UBIQUITOUS SYNERGY SEEKER - Hollowpoint Sniper Hyperbole
^Fucking fantastic to say the least! Toronto's own! I need to catch this performance/experience.
Marcus Visionary's Junglist Movement Tent - Must say the dance tent in 07 was my all time favourite venue at a festival. Spent all my days rinsing out under the shade to sunny beats. This year the direction is singular - JUNGLE. Boh broski!
Benny Page - Battlefield
Machete Avenue - Cut to Pieces
^ Apparently Chad Michael Stewart is a sex machine. Must connect.
And some fantastic underground hip hop, the original name that popped out to me to attend this fest. Hidden love for sure, but true hip hop is full.
