Human Robots

Better than the Kollaboration videos. This is collaboration, however. Two brothers pop and lock and liquid and moon walk as a morphing robot. Intense.

Sprung Leak

The lovely Hannah Holland of Bastard Batty Bass releases a proper set for a proper time. She's reppin' Spring with a tasty new mix of her signature selections. Spring is now upon you (definitely not here..) and rolling in are the sounds of tomorrow's parties! I am probably heading to the mountains next week to ski and it feels good to not feel brittle in -35c with a severe windchill. But coasting through the snow and vista views are in order. I guess that's what this mix is about for me. I'm sure for others it will bump the bass and have you dancing with the windows wide open!

It's also released at a perfect time. RiotRiotRiot was started one year ago to collect all the music that really made something happen inside my ears. We've listened to Holland for over a year and it feels damn good to hear what she's bringing to the US in 2009. She's been having a time traveling and working Europe, Australia, and Asia with her hand-picked blends of House and Techno. If all goes well we might have a few dates around our areas that be worth traveling for! (Hannah, please somewhere along the West coast..)

P-A-R-T-Y

Awesome dance-scratch abilities from Parisian duo Beat Torrent. Feverish Turntablism with classic dance beats gives a whole new meaning to party. Check out their MySpace tune-box for a 3-part sampling of their live mix CD that's absolutely bonkers in track and scratch skill.

A sample of their 2009 show:

GA Take-Over

On the 20th of March Andy Cato and Tom Findlay, the duo that forms Groove Armada, took the place behind the decks of Pete Tong's Essential Selections on BBC Radio1. Grand selections from the pair! Note: The Blame remix of Laidback Luke & Steve Angello's Show Me Love, and Skream's Dub mix of La Roux In for the Kill are my top picks. As well, the usual radio show call-ins, shout-outs, and buggering around we've come to espect. But much more!

Synth and Break and Bass

A transforming blend of House and Breaks done propper. Deep bass and club-rockin' tunes to fill the room. Reminds me of old Embassy/Whippet parties in London, Canada. Tech-Funk and Breakbeat mashed to smash! Check out Meat Katie from a few days ago, then jump back in time to heard his JJJ Mixup from 2007. Old.. . good!

By the way, I have finally saw the phrase 'the people don't dance no more' come to light. Not pointing out the guy in front with the perma BASS face.. Hands out yo' pockets son!

Zombie Disco Squad Zulu House mix downloads

Zombie Disco Squad
are weird-and-bumpy House music. New and sometimes experimental sounds of House, wild and well-played blends, and damning drums! Some call it Zulu..

In their words,
Zulu is banging on drums. Zulu is congas and cowbells. Zulu is a relentless kick drum. Zulu is rhythm. Zulu is jacking til you sweat. Zulu is old and new. Zulu is Get Rude. Zulu is a feeling. Zulu is that low down wobble you sometimes feel. Zulu is a familiar feeling. Zulu is fresh. Zulu is bass. Zulu is bigger than you and its totally okay to feel a little intimidated right now.
